Principal’s Desk

At Harsul College, we have been imparting higher education to the Tribal students who are socio-economically deprived. This certainly is a very substantial and potent task. The college is the only institution providing the facility of higher education in the surrounding Tribal region. Harsul and 58 villages around it have been declared as Tribal Zone by the Government of Maharashtra. Majority of our students are from the Tribal families. From which not a single member is formally educated Therefore our students to keep challenging pace with today's competitive age. They have to work very hard to compete with their urban counterpart. Considering this, we are taking extra efforts to bring them to the expected level of academics. This is a great challenge before us and our sincere efforts are directed towards making our students competent enough to face the challenges of 21st century.

There is much to feel proud on the progress of the college from the last few years. The College was established in 1993 with Arts Faculty. As an important tribal education centre, presently the college consists of junior and senior wings. The year 2016-17 has been extremely satisfying in terms of accomplishments. The College has started F.Y.B.sc from the academic year 2017-18. The college also runs Post Graduate Course (M A) in Marathi. The College offers BA with special subjects - English, Marathi, Hindi, Geography and Politics. In the year 2017-18, the college has started Psychology at special level. The College is permanently affiliated to S.P.Pune University and is included under sections 2f and 12B of UGC Act in 2010. The College was first accredited in 2004 and reaccredited with 'B' Grade (CGPA 2.52) by NAAC Bangalore. The College not only ensures the academic development of the students but also provides them with opportunities to prove themselves by undertaking co-curricular and extra-curricular activities. Our students have been participating in the Research Competitions like 'Avishkar' and presenting Research projects in them. The project prepared by our students entitled as 'Disaster Warning Machine' was much appreciated at Zonal level and selected for University level. Our students are performing remarkably in Sports as well. Many of our students have won prestigious zonal level championships and have been selected for Inter University competitions. The college tradition has always been to ensure that our students assimilate the best of knowledge from the formal education system. The college, in recent years is equally known for its achievement in Sports and extra- curricular activities, strives to instill the spirit of "Sportsmanship" in the students and to encourage their overall development.

I feel proud to acknowledge the contribution of highly qualified, dynamic and sincere faculty, non- teaching staff and my students for this. I strongly believe in Team effort and motivate teachers and students to aspire and strive for excellence in education. I would like to thank the co-coordinator of M.G. Vidyamandir, Hon. Dr. Apoorvabhau Hiray, MLC Maharashtra State, for his valuable contribution and constant support in every achievement of the college. I express my deep sense of gratitude to the General Secretary of M.G. Vidyamandir, Hon. Dr Prashant dada Hiray, and Hon. Dr. Advayaaba Hiray for their continuous encouragement. I also thank Dr. V. S. More and Prin. Dr. B. S. Jagdale for their support and inspiration.
